Business and Economic Development

Business and Economic development is fundamental in achieving the vision and mission of Dagoretti North Constituency. So far we have achieved the following in the categories below

  1. Supporting Small and Medium Scale enterprises

The CDF Committee will provide entrepreneurial and management training and other

support services to Small and Medium scale enterprises and other interest groups in the constituency. The overall objective is to promote value-addition of resource endowments by small and

medium size industries, improve labor, productivity and sharpen their skills for employment creation and economic growth at large.

  • Women and Youth Empowerment

The Kenya Vision 2030 recognized the fact that high unemployment levels in the country have led to increased dependency levels, slow economic growth, increasing poverty levels and rising national insecurity.

The unemployment challenge is further compounded by low transition and completion rates in secondary education, as well as limited opportunities in technical and vocational skills training institutions for the youth.

The constituency is at the forefront in promoting gender equity and empowerment of women and youth by ensuring women, youth and persons with disabilities representation in all committees including the CDF, the development committee, among others in the constituency and link them to finance and market opportunities.

Social Services for Marginalized Groups

Ensuring that Dagoretti North Constituency orphaned and vulnerable children, people with disabilities and the aged / older people are socially and economically empowered is a key priority in this strategic period. These groups are vital to a better society.

  1. Orphaned and Vulnerable Children

The Constituency will focus on empowering the orphaned and vulnerable children with proper education through increased bursary allocation and scholarship opportunities, vocational training and capital for SMEs. We shall partner with all the stakeholders to ensure proper care of these children.

  • Persons with Disabilities

The constituency development office underscores the fact that disability is not inability and seeks to ensure that the disabled are covered under cash transfer programs and are empowered into life-long ventures including vocational training and capacity building. We shall ensure that they are properly represented and are linked with various funds and opportunities including business and employment opportunities.

Elderly persons

Elderly people are particularly vulnerable to social isolation or loneliness owing to loss of friends and family, mobility or income. This affects the quality of their life and wellbeing, adversely affecting their health. We shall seek to partner with the National Government of Kenya in the safety net program and ensure that they too are covered under cash transfer program and training on financial literacy.
